In a flashback, Peter recounts the Ghostbusters most dangerous exploit: the time they spent the night in Heck House, the most haunted house on the planet, inhabited by thousands of ghosts! For their troubles they are to receive a million dollars apiece, provided they survive the evening until dawn...without their Proton Packs!

  • The title of this episode and elements of the story come from a novel, Hell House which was later made into a movie, The Legend of Hell House.
  • Peter's line of "I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ectoplasm, and I'm all out of bubblegum." is a reference to the movie They Live where Roddy Piper's character says a similar line.
