Louis and Janine are separated from Slimer and kidnapped while shopping at the mall. As the guys prepare for her return with a birthday surprise, Slimer returns in a panic and tries to inform them what happened. They get a personal message at home from Poso, the class 7 ghost who kidnapped them. He wants the Ghostbusters to hand over the business to him. With their equipment, he can control all ghosts. The Ghostbusters get Shifter, Poso's class 5 sidekick out of the containment unit to help them get their friends back. Peter (covered in mood slime for Ghostbusters 2), and Shifter head to Ghost Town in NJ in pursuit of Janine and Louis, followed by Ray, Winston and Slimer, aboard Ecto-2. Meanwhile, Poso's goons "visit" Egon at the firehouse as added "incentive" from Poso. Will Shifter cooperate with Peter though?

Trivia

• This episode makes a direct reference to Ghostbusters 2 and Vigo the Carpathian.
• A couple of special devices are used to find, capture, and control Shifter, including a hovering "camera trap" that follows Slimer into the containment unit to retrieve Shifter, and a remote deployed and controlled electronic homing collar.
• Mr. Stay-Puft makes an appearance in the containment unit.
