In 1986 Kenner came out with a line of toys not for the hit movie but for the upcoming cartoon The Real Ghostbusters. The toy line lasted all the way till the series's demise with several different lines of action figures, playsets, plushes, vehicles and even full sized role playing weapons. Kenner's line for the Real Ghostbusters has stood the test of time much like its original line of Star Wars toys. Mostly simple in design yet all very unique; few toys lines before or since have had such a diverse line and had such a large impact.

In 1997 Hasbro (Kenner under a new name) a series of Toys and action figures were released for the Extreme Ghostbusters television show. The line failed to reach the scale, scope and popularity of the original Real Ghostbusters line, there was still a variety of different different toys produced.
