Well... at least we know there will be more coming since there's a film next year.
Even ATC helped keep the comic alive (because it sure seemed done after the first Tiamat story). Can't wait to see what 2020 will do for it. Hopefully they'll be able to write a story line that explains whatever interlude occurs between movies.
Hell, maybe Burnham and Schoening need a break before all of that ramps up. The deserve it, considering what they've done to keep the franchise alive.

We know the next series is a non-crossover and might be announced in October so perhaps it could start in December at the earliest but probably early 2020.
Yeah, Vol. 2 was pretty much the end of Chapter 1 and TMNT kicked off Chapter 2 and the interdimensional shenanigans that concluded with Crossing Over, imo. The 35th and Transformers seems to be the start of the next chapter.
Though looking ahead, the writings on the wall for the third TMNT crossover. The first one was late 2014. The second was late 2017. So... late 2020?
Curious to see if there be any tie-in material for the 2020 movie. Aside from a cash grab video game probably.

Don't forget the International Series. That was awesome too.

I considered part of the "interdimensional shenanigans chapter since Dimension 68-R and Hell were involved (iow, TMNT 1 to Crossing Over, International takes place within that stretch).

Bit out of left field, but I was just leafing through some ATC concept art and... https://comicbook.com/2017/01/21/ghostb ... limer-/#10 ...isn’t slide 9 essentially the big bad from Ghostbusters 101? Did we spot that at the time?
The finale, Issue #5, has also been bumped up to an October 2 release date.

Looks a lot like it. I'll try and ask Dan.
EDIT: Yes, he confirmed he was most definitely inspired by the concept art.
Boy, another one, where the issue goes by too fast. And now, another month to wait. Optimus kinda stole the spotlight this issue but it was so awesome. One of a few characters who punched a ghost.
Ectotron had a successful test of his new Proton Pack. Something got blown up. heh heh.
And obviously, Starscream was trying to trick them from the start.
Figures Kremzeek's goal was to consume the Allspark and evolve into a Class 7 god then choose a new purpose. That was a rather concerning ability, to disintegrate a corporeal form - convert it to an electroplasmic form, absorb it, and take on its memories. That was a clever twist to have him, the supposed big bad, taken out this issue albeit temporarily. But also done to take away his electrical powers for a later trapping.
Favorite scene: Optimus yelling at Ray to just do it. LMAO.
One grip: That was really lucky they just so happen to catch this specific electric ghost during this story arc that helps them take care of the threat at hand.

Glad that the last issue of the Transformers crossover is still coming on October 2. My birthday is on Saturday of that week, so it will be like getting an early present. Hope that an annual issue is around the corner as well, it is always fun to read the different stories in those and see the different artists illustrations as well.

So with the fact the IDW Comics have now gone into Transformers territory, does this mean we can't count them as in primary canon? I know a few years ago Erik said they are since Ghost Corps got involved too, but I feel like the inclusion of Optimus and the rest of the autobots & decepticons kinda break the film continuity imo. Anybody else feel that way?

No not really. The comics have done a very good job with the world building. It started out very grounded, and built it's way up to the more outrageous stories in the most wonderful of ways. I mean during this time the Ghostbusters have met the Ninja Turtles, Nearly Every GB Counterpart they have in the Multiverse, and Now they have met the Transformers as they exist in the Ghostbusters Reality. It doesn't really break the film continuity for me.

It's set in the comic book continuity of IDW Ghostbusters (which is it's own thing and is based on the Film/Movie Canon) and IDW TMNT (which crossed over with the IDW GB's via Dimensions in two mini-series); I don't think it's set in the original 1984 film continuity; nor did it broke continuity. The Transformers in the second IDW comic reboot takes place in a new continuity set apart from the HCBU (Hasbro Comic Book Universe).
So yeah...100% confirmation whatever new comics comes out, it will be in 2020.
Looks like focus will probably be more on GB2020; whatever comics that are coming out, it will probably be related to that.

Perhaps. I suspect there will be a press release about the next comic in October after Transformers/Ghostbusters wraps up with its final issue. Like for example, the first tease for the 2018 annual was in mid-October 2017.
There's also the 35th Anniversary trade and the Blackout and MIB/GB board games to look forward to this year still. And I think at least Erik Burnham will be at NYCC - not sure if he's on a specific panel or just going.

Until the full preview on Friday, here's the first 3 pages of Transformers/Ghostbusters #5.
Heh. Soundwave's "Scrap" comment when Winston trapped him reminds me of "Transformers Prime"; pretty much rivals that of the TMNT saying "Shell" in the 2003 cartoon. ^_^

Great to see Ray use that mood slime on Ectotron after Megatron possessed him.
And cool on Ectotron being an honoary ghostbuster with his own offical tag. ^_^
and lastly...
"Ectotron will Return..."

With that last page, it seems we won't be seeing the last of him; I look forward to seeing more of him in the future.
Great series. ^_^

That was a nice wrap to a solid series. Some great GB dialogue throughout and it never felt universe breaking having the two properties together. Also I got Ectotron for my birthday as a result of this series, so win/win!
Hopefully the next time out we’ll be building to the new continuity! So exciting!
