I thought about buying one of those but went the cheep route and made my own lol I used a socket with a wood dowel jammed in it wraped in a split wire loom and glued it to the original :)

That is exactly what I'm doing right now!

As with anything diy it gets more complex the more features you add. I'd suggest starting with the lights then add on.
Hey ! Thank you so much for all the source code ! You have done amazing work!

Quick question though, I'm want to use the libraries to just play the sound files straight from an sdcard through the ardurino.

Did you consider this? I didn't want to buy the additional sound board :) but I'm not sure about processing power. I was going to give it a shot anyways.

Also do you recommend two nanos now just for the bar graph? I was wondering how rabidprototypes designed there's using which looks like a four pin ribbon cable.

Thanks !

You can certainly try to do that but one of the big issues is that i believe the arduino blocks while the file is playing and there is a lot of other things we're trying to do and we don't want anything blocking. There certainly are tricks you can do but in the end it's a headache so I chose to use a separate audio board. Here is an example of playing audio

This is the thread on the full code http://www.gbfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=43273 and github https://github.com/CountDeMonet/ArduinoProtonPack
I ended up using only one arduino nano in my pack. You could probably switch to a mega and avoid the sx1509 all together. Would just need to update the mapping of the pins and remove the code for the sx1509. That's probably what I would do if I was building another one.

rabidprototypes looks to be using some integrated circuits to handle the bar graph. Specifically this is the chip for the led driver https://ams.com/as1115. Looks like a similar concept as the sx1509 we are using for the bargraph just in a smaller package and specifically designed to drive led's.

Yeah, looks like the PWM of the arduino is not that great. I could probably get by, but I probably want something better for quality. I like the SD card approach though.

Thanks so much again for your source code :) its a godsend.

Hey fellow Busters! I wanna see if i can get some opinions on this..

Im aiming on buying Frankengeeks upgrade kit he created for the lights and sounds. I know it comes with an upgraded speaker for better audio, but im wondering if anyone used a diffdrent speaker to go with this kit? If so what speaker would you guys recommend to go with Frankengeeks upgrade kit??

Is there any way you can plug in a rumble pack to the spongface 80% scaled? Sorry i swear I saw someone showing how to but maybe I was crazy and it was for a full size wand kit but I swear it wasn’t lol

Well... If you were able to get a rumble pack, you could install it in the Thrower, and wire it up to a DPDT button (Double Pull Double Throw), a button or switch which can activate two circuits at the same time, though you might have to have a separate power source for the rumble pack so that the rumble pack doesn't eat into the supply for the lights and sounds of the Spirit Pack.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable in electronics can suggest something better.

Ok I’m really trying to figure it out. I have my rumble pack now I gotta figure out what part of the board I can connect it’s wires to and if I will need another power source that will for sure make it tricky to fit it all in the wand lol

I am wondering the same thing. I bought a Frankengeek board. Im an idiot when it comes to wiring electronics. Did you ever figure out if we could get the GBfans speaker and make it work?

i think you should be able to use any speaker you want. i have a 6x9 currently. just gotta make sure you gotta enough power and a battery that lasts a good while
