Why does the original Matty Colelctor Wisnton sell for so much?

I have a bunch of these figures and was looking them up on various sites and noticed that the original winston release sells (or people ask at least) for a bunch of money for it.

Just curious.

The higher price could be the result of greater scarcity... Whilst I'd like to believe the original figure was supplied in sufficient quantities, it's possible Matty Collector may have undersold it. Alternately (and probably more likely) it may be down to the fact that his accessory was an opening Ghost Trap with pedal and capture effect, and people may've bought multiples so they could get multiple Traps for their own collections.
