Discuss the Ghostbusters Comic from IDW, as well as the now defunct Ghostbusters: Legion series.

I've resisted somewhat about posting this here because I know scans of the comics (up to a certain issue last I saw them) are posted on this site. Hopefully for those who don't know about what I've been up to, especially this month, this will be welcome, even enjoyable news.

I've been scanning my own collection of The Real Ghostbusters comic books, cleaning them up, and when needed restoring them. ie: de-aging the pages, especially the stories to look like they would have in the '80s. (and early '90s) Why am I doing this? I'm a fan who believes in sharing out of print, not always available to the public (print editions) material from Ghostbusters. Such as I've already done with The Real Ghostbusters magazines. I run a site (where I'm paying for hosting anyway) that is about The Real Ghostbusters. It's a lot of work at times, if fans are enjoying the comics as I have been again it's worth it.

As an adult I didn't have every issue of the RGB comics. At one time I had the scans that were available from both Ghostbusters Fans and someone named brianzc. I was glad to have them from about 2007 until 2011. I don't know if brianzc scanned a lot of the issues or just shared them on the forums. When I had a chance to buy the majority of RGB (and a lot of Slimer! issues) last year I wanted to make them available to other Ghostbusters fans.

I put up issues 15 (part 1 of a 2 part story) and 16 (part 2 of a 2 part story) today. Issues 1-16, the three part Ghostbusters II adaptation from NOW, and Slimer! issue 1 are available to read and download at ectocontainment.com.

True, who really needs issues of Slimer! on their sites. No one (like myself) needs to own A LOT of physical copies of Slimer! comics. :sigh::walterpeck:

GhostofPanterA: You're welcome.

I've got that last page scanned. I can't seem to add it to the comic pages, though. There's no "Revise" link there. AJ? Should I just email it to you or something?

Issues 17, 18, and 19 have been scanned and cleaned up. All three issues were put on Ectocontainment this past week. Actually, issue 19 was scanned, cleaned up, and put on the site yesterday!

Issues 20 (Part 1 of a 2 part story) and 22 (Part 2 of a 2 part story) were scanned and cleaned up yesterday. They were put on the site this morning.

I haven't gotten to the Boogieman issue (Issue 26) yet. It'll be on the site once I'm finished with issues 23, 24, and 25.

All: I put up issue 21, an "in between" issue (because of some artistic issue around Issues 20 and 22) that features three stories from Marvel UK's The Real Ghostbusters. The cover/main story is Ecto-X!

@ Spengs This a fantastic website you have, keep up the good work. Also in reference to your question about the ghost nabber it did appear twice on The Real Ghostbusters, in the episode "Take Two" a prop version of it is seen in the storage room where the Ghostbusters leave their Proton Packs. Then in "Big Trouble with Little Slimer" Ray uses it inside the defense research lab to locate the ghost inside the centerfuge(Spelling ?) test chamber.

Midcoast Ghostbusters: Thanks for the compliment, really appreciate it. Thank you for the insight about the ghost nabber in reference to Kenner making a toy from originally the ghost sniffer out of Ghostbusters. I haven't seen "Take Two" in a few years. I'm working up to it again. As you may know i recently reviewed episode 3, Mrs. Roger's Neighborhood. I'll add the ghost nabber information to the site in a future update. Thanks again.

All: I've been working this past week on scanning and cleaning up issues 25 and 26. As of this morning they are both up on Ectocontainment.

Last month I uploaded the last issue from Volume 1. I suppose in the good feelings I had about that, I didn't post about that here. If you're a semi frequent visitor to the site and our social media outlets you already knew. For the rest of ya, check the 411 in the next paragraph!!

Which brings us to this week...

I've been working on the Spectacular 3-D issue and the beginnings of Volume 2. I completed and put up Now's Spectacular 3-D issue yesterday.

Blog entry # 76: Spectacular 3-D issue! Also begins Tobin and the Maze Of Time story arc that continues into The Real Ghostbusters comics, Volume 2.

I'm still pretty new to IDW's on-going, monthly Ghostbusters comics. I don't think I ever read Now's RGB comics, volume 2. When I saw a story about Tobin in it, it was kinda like ok, this could be interesting. Even though its been years, I still don't know how I feel about it. :-P
#392423
I pretty much just put up Volume 2, Issue 1. It contains 2 stories, most notably "Tobin and the Maze of Time" Pt. II. And some other story where Peter plays cards with the Devil. Um, yeah.

Blog entry # 78: (Volume 2: Issue 1) http://www.ectocontainment.com/ectocont ... sue_1.html
#393605
The back up story of Peter playing cards with the Devil is from Marvel UK's The Real Ghostbusters series. As I recall all of the NOW comics volume 2 issues contain back up stories from Marvel.Another neat fact is tha some of the issues of NOW's series actually reuse cover art work from the Marvel UK series despite some it not being constant with the stories NOW was publishing. A good example of this Issue # 19 of Volume 1, Egon is seen wearing a Santa Claus hat even though the stories contained in side are not set at Christmas time.
#394377
Yeah, my description of the US "filler" story was just me having a little fun with the quality and perhaps absurdity of the UK stories.

All: On May 30, 2012 I uploaded Volume 2: Issue 2 which features the continuing story “Tobin and the Maze of Time" And the UK "B" story where Janine babysits a baby who's a "Little Devil." Um, yeah. The only good thing about the "B" story is a baby carriage size ghost trap.

Yay, great to see you're doing this. I like to share RGB too when the item in question is old magazines or such. Got all the issues in very good contition, but surely many others will be happy to see the scans. Also got a whole heap of British Marvel RGB, and they're sure silly, but because I grew up with them, buying issue by issue as they were released, I think fondly of them.

Since non-American work is mentioned already: the comics in Germany made some original work, even if they messed it up in the cutest way, like every little ghost companion that came with the action figures were a bit like Slimer, just that every guy had one ghost pet of sorts. Have a few, they seem to be rare.

Also a full Swedish run, but that's just NOW and Marvel combined. I've scanned the covers if someone wanna check.

Yeah, a lot of those look like Marvel UK covers, which does match what you said.

Lots of stuff about the Marvel UK comics here:

gozeria: Thanks for the feedback. Its good to see you on here. I recognized your artwork and remember your site. As a dude I didn't really need to see RGB Egon shirtless, I get it, for the ladies. :vinzclortho: I've enjoyed your art style(s) though and use to love reading your Calvin & Hobbes Ghostbusters comic strips.

All: Its been more then a month, I've finally been able to scan both issues 3 and 4 from Volume 2. They were both scanned today, I've only had time to clean up issue 3 and get it on Ectocontainment. If I have time I'll work on cleaning up Vol. 2, Issue 4 this weekend or next week.

The "A" story continues Tobin & The Maze Of Time Pt. IV, which will conclude in issue 4. The "B" story deals with um a ghost mouse. Be on the lookout for a modified ghost (mouse) trap.

Not that surprising I was able to clean up Volume 2, Issue 4 this afternoon. Scanning it yesterday made it easier to work on today. With the scans cleaned up (de-aged) I put the conclusion to Tobin & The Maze Of Time on Ectocontainment™ today!

The "A" story naturally concludes Tobin & The Maze Of Time. The "B" filler story (from the Mavel UK comics) might be one of the better UK stories from the previous Volume 2 issues. The Real Ghostbusters deal with a ghost in a painting at an art museum. Originally I wasn't thinking of Ghostbusters II, now that I typed its brief description, might explain why it was one of the better UK stories.

MageGrayWolf, All: You're welcome, glad you were able to get the comics to work. I always test them once the pages are published. I use both Chrome and Safari, its possible it was a browser issue or a mobile phone one. It might be sweet if we could read the comics on our mobile devices. I don't have those kinds of programming skills. As I don't own the copyrights, ect anyway and am not paid to do this, (always done as a another fan) their will probably never be a mobile version of all the NOW RGB comics. Perhaps at some point, IDW will have the upcoming RGB omnibus available in digital form. "There's an app for that."
#403119
They are just images or pdf files, that's quite easy to download and read on a mobile. Yeah it worked just fine when I switched to Crome so it must be a FireFox issue. But thanks again, that help fill a few gaps in my collection.

Just a suggestion for future images if you put like 01_, 02_ 03_ etc. before as the first part of the file name, the file can remain in order easier for anyone downloading them. With the naming system you have they go out of order if sorted by name in a computer folder. Though other than the Slimer! comics it looks like you have things pretty complete unless you have access to the UK and Germany comic releases or plan to upload some of the newer stuff like the 88mm comics. But it looks like your site is focused just on the RGB version.
#403272
Yeah, that's true. The only "mobile device" (that isn't a computer) I have is my phone. I wouldn't want to use it to read comics on if I didn't have to.

I see what you're saying about how the files are organized once they're saved. When I originally scanned the pages they were scanned in order and I tried not to "arrange" them automatically by name. It did happen with a couple of issues. It may be a little inconvenient for fans, I did the work, one could always rename and/or organize, move the files how they want on their computers. :-P

I don't have any individual Marvel UK issues unless one counts NOW Comics issue 21 and any Vol 2 issue that has a UK story in it. I never bought the US trades that came out in 2006/2007. Never had a real interest. I definitely don't have access to the German issues.

As I talked about on Ectocontainment and possibly in a post in this thread I don't have every issue of Slimer! Unfortunately I do have a lot of them. While scanning Slimer issue 1 I wasn't really enjoying the comic or the preservation process. Despite that I did buy Slimer issue 2 as my collection of Slimer comics didn't have issue 2 and I don't own issue 3. The Slimer comics I have may be put up, certainly no rush to do it. No adult fan could blame me.

When talk of the digital preservation of the comics began I said something like I was so far from getting to the 88mph I wasn't worried about it. Now I'm much closer to them. :-| I know the 88mph comics have been on-line as some downloadable file in years past. Off hand I don't remember where and a quick check on my computer didn't bring up the exact file. I may scan each at some point. I'm a little concerned about damaging my copies while scanning them. If I get to them news will be on Ectocontainment and Ghostbusters International.
