When I've previously seen busters wearing slime jars, they've usually modified a jar lid to include some kind of hook or strap. However I was wondering if perhaps one of these types of jars might work without any modification:

It occurs to me that maybe a belt-fob could be clipped onto the "hinge" you can see in the top left. Anyone ever tried doing this?

(I assume it would be a bad idea to use the large clips on the right-hand side as those are what hold the jar closed.)

definitely could work...

some urethane plastic mix with some highlighter pink ink, poured in and let set... so if it drops or latches open it doesn't spill all over you or some other costumer, would look great :D

Yeah in order to minimize weight I'm looking at various sizes of jars, and I'm also having a look at plastic jars that use those same types of clips.

Ah, good thinking! Yeah, make the slime rock-hard and then can use either clip, as won't matter if it pops open. Of course it is nice having some actual liquid goo that can flow around, though...!

For my slime I was actually thinking of using using some Phosphorescent glow-in-the-dark paint. Dunno how thick or runny the stuff is yet.

It's supposed to very bright in daylight, and it also self-illuminates in the dark. (Luminescent paint only glows under ultraviolet light, but phosphorescent paint actually stores the light and re-releases it slowly.) You can "charge it up" even more using ultraviolet light, so I'm also buying a tiny little UV torch for that purpose.

I've also been looking at some other jar alternatives...

A very "modern" design, this water bottle by XD-Design includes a carabiner for clipping onto the belt! It's only 300ml so shouldn't be too big or heavy. And apparently it's made of "Tritan material", a tough transparent plastic that is dishwasher safe, so should be lightweight, and dropping it/knocking it/crushing it shouldn't be a problem.

An actual jar would be more authentic to what we saw in Ghostbusters 2... but I'm thinking that over the years the GBs have started to use more specialised sample containers. ;)

Of course I could always use this water bottle as an actual wearable water bottle! Fill it with blackcurrent squash and then when I get thirsty I drink the slime! Haha. I do want to try my glow-in-the-dark idea, though. (And while there lots of ways to make drinks glow in UV light, I don't think there are any food-safe substances that are properly phosphorescent.)

Some more jar-like alternatives:

It's a bit larger at 450ml, though, that may be a bit too big. Also only has a single one-star review complaining that it leaked! Hmm.

And here's another...

This one is 350ml, might be a better size, and several positive reviews, though one notes that it can leak unless the top is screwed very tightly. Unfortunatley it has a bright purple lid... I haven't been able to find a version that doesn't have a brightly-coloured lid or logos or patterns on the bottle! Grrr!

At the moment I'm leaning towards the the first bottle, the "modern" 300ml one by XD-Design.

We used a bolt/nut tool belt holder from Home depot. It has a tool belt mounting plate, and I bolted that to an aluminum plate with drilled holes to match out pistol belts. it slides up and down out of a peg on its mount, and we half filled it with green apple sanitizing hand wash. Shake it up before an event to get the bubbles back into it, and its good to go.

We've used it now for 3 years with no issues.

Here is a shot of the wearable jar used in GBII. I'm sure there are better shots of it on the forums.

I plan to replicate this one. I'm going to hollow out a walkman and attach it. Then fill the jar with something that looks like slime that's transitioning from black to pink.
I'll probably use a Peter Pan peanut butter jar. I'll figure out some way to color hot glue and put some on the inside (without melting the plastic) to make it look full. Then put the headphones against the jar.
Weight isn't a problem with my setup since I use suspenders (straps from my pack to belt, and military suspenders while I'm not wearing my pack). But it shouldn't be too heavy.

I had thought about using a jar like those, but when I filled it up, it was fairly heavy...so I opted for something smaller and lighter.
These are in the screw aisle of Home Depot...the already have a little mount thing that is easy to mount on a belt.
Made a custom label and used some bath soap, hand soap, and a little food color.

Thats exactly what we've been using for 3 or 4 years now. They also make a shorter one, which we prefer.

So, I found my own use for those Home Depot containers! Going to fill them with dumdums/other cheap candy for conventions... but made labels for them while I was printing ones for my goggles.

Now I need to figure out the best way to mount them to something to wear on a belt.

I'm thinking about getting this. Whats the mount thing look like and how do you mount it to a belt?

I kinda wonder if it can be hung to the belt through one of the holes with one of those keychain things the ones that have the spring in them
