It is heard during actual gameplay, not in the main menu or pause screen.
I don't need it for any particular reason; I just find it ridiculously catchy.

"Ray has gone bye-bye, Egon... what've you got left?"
"Sorry Venkman, I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought."

Your best bet might be to try isolate it from an online video, and stitch it together from the various clear bits until you have an audio effect-free version.
