I wore my suit for the first time this past weekend, and it was about 80 degrees out and walking around the city can get a little hot. So now that I'm home, the suit could use a washing. My concern is the patch on the sleeve, since it was an iron on patch. I had tried sewing it on in addition to ironing it on like I did with my name patch, but the patch and the fabric together was too thick for me to get a needle through. So does anyone have any suggestions on how I can wash my suit without my patch coming off?

Your best bet is to turn the suit inside out and wash it on a gentle (undergarments or baby) settings.

Turning the suit inside out prevents the edges of the patch getting caught or snagged.
Then the low temperature band gentle wash means it doesn't get flung around violently in the machine so less chance of undoing the glue.

I hope this helps.

I used pliers to push and pull the needle on tough spots of the patch. I'd try that for peace of mind.
