This is a first for the NJGB, at the National Haunters Convention we will have a booth and our Ecto-4 will be setup on the show floor. If you're in the area stop by and say hi. The convention should be quite a good show with some 100 halloween vendors, roaming acts, and classes on everything from prop building to managing a haunt.

The guys organizing this con have been incredibly receptive to having Ghostbusters at their event. They made mention of the supposed Ghostbuster con that recently was all the buzz but then failed to occur. If there is interest, they might be able to help organize such an event.

Press release:

2nd Annual Eastern \ National Haunters Convention, April 10-11, 2009

A convention for people that love, work or own haunted houses: Open to the Public.

Do you love haunted houses? Do you crave to go behind the scenes? Then, how would you like to be one of the privileged few to go behind the scenes tours of some of the best haunted attractions on the East Coast? How would you like to purchase props, animatronics, and special effects normally available only to haunted attractions? You do not need to be a registered business and no business ID is required.

This incredible convention is open to the public.

Friday April 10 and Saturday April 11, 2009 Valley Forge Convention Center, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania

Michael Bruner of The Monster Maze and Robert Kocher of The Village of Darkness, will be hosting the 2nd annual National Haunters Convention. This is a networking opportunity for individuals within the haunted house industry. People, like you, who own, work, act in, or patronize haunted attractions, will come to shop, be educated, and socialize with their fellows haunters. A three day convention with skeletal corpses, ghostly mirrors, glowing tombstones and spiders the size of king size beds and more will be displayed as haunt vendors show their props and scares.

The event will be held on the grounds of the Valley Forge Convention Center, 1160 2nd Ave King of Prussia, PA 19406. For hotel reservations, call: (888) 201-1718, and be sure to mention the National Haunters Convention for a special rate.

The convention is open to all haunt enthusiasts, individuals within the haunt industry (haunt owners, haunt actors, home/yard haunters, haunt vendors) and their families.

The 2nd Annual National (formally Eastern) Haunters Convention will have seminars useful to those in the haunted house industry, a bus tour visiting major Philadelphia-area haunts, vendors selling unique haunted house props that are not available to the general public, and people within the haunted house industry sharing various tips and tricks to improve your haunts and scares.

There will be a FRIDAY NIGHT bus tour, which is slated to include a tour all of the famous haunts located at "THE BATES MOTEL" Haunted Hayride and Bates Motel Haunted House - Glenn Mills Pennsylvania

All attendees on the tour can also participate in an authentic ghost tour hosted by S.P.R.I. (Society for Paranormal Research and Investigation) who would like to announce its investigation of the original Bates family farmhouse and barn, which are on the grounds of Arasapha Farms, and are almost 200 years old and steeped in family history. The house has been almost constantly occupied by members of the Bates family. Recent investigations by other groups have yielded reasons to think that SPRI can look forward to some interesting results!

The National Haunters Convention costume ball ("The Cadaver's Cotillion") will have a PIRATES ON THE HIGH SEAS! theme for 2009, and will be available for an additional fee, which will include food and drink.

For many years, the haunted house industry has been very similar to the world of stage magic, in that haunt elements, tricks, and effects have been kept secret.

Michael Bruner and Robert Kocher, both former members of the Board of Directors for the International Association of Haunted Attractions have been working hard to smash this notion of isolationism. This event has grown year after year, has outgrown THREE locations and has evolved into the National Haunters Convention.
